How did you break into the Paraplanning Industry and why?
I originally joined Hadlow Edwards to become a Trainee Financial Adviser as I was interested in the finance industry from my school years which developed into my University studies also. To begin my journey, I started in the ‘New Business Paraplanning Team’ at Hadlow Edwards which gave me a good understanding of St. James’s Place, the products, the industry, legislation and tax efficiency. Alongside this role I completed the next generation academy with SJP whilst also completing my Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
When the academy ended in the middle of lockdown, I did not feel personally it was the correct time to begin advising, this was accompanied by a new opportunity in Hadlow Edwards to develop my career and manage the Paraplanning team. I have not looked back since.
In 2021 a plan to expand and build on our Wealth Management business came and HEPPS was launched. I was given the opportunity to be a Director of HEPPS which has allowed my career to take that next step. Since then, we have witness HEPPS move from strength to strength. It has been exciting and a pleasure to be a part of it.
What do you enjoy about your role and the industry?
I enjoy the analytical side of things most, along with the problem-solving element. Since HEPPS began, I also enjoy working alongside all the advisers that we speak to on a day-to-day basis and building a relationship with them. We collectively work together to achieve the best possible outcome for their clients, along with providing them with an excellent service, and helping partners and practices work towards making positive improvements to their QOD score.
I also enjoy committing time to develop members of my team to ensure they can be the best they can possibly be.
What the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
The best advice I have been given is to work hard and ensure you put the effort in. Opportunities will then come your way and you will have a great sense of satisfaction in seeing your work pay off.
This has been demonstrated in the opportunities that I have been given with my time at Hadlow Edwards.
Finally, (no lying!) what is your most used emoji?
