Nia joined the HEPPS team in August 2022, shortly after completing her A-Levels. She has very kindly shared her journey with us, from the point of application to her experience with us so far.
Nia’s story
After successfully completing my A-levels, I decided that instead of going to University, I would seek an apprenticeship. This appealed to me as I work best in a practical setting and ‘on the job’, rather than sitting in a classroom. Originally, I wanted to be an accountant as my favourite subject in school was maths, however, after researching paraplanning I came to the conclusion that it may be a more interesting and exciting career path. As a result of my research, I searched for paraplanning jobs near me as I didn’t want to move too far away from home.
I came across HEPPS through a recruitment agency. After looking into the business further, I discovered that HEPPS work with St. James’s Place which is a very well-regarded business within the finance industry. HEPPS was, and still is, an up-and-coming business which enticed me further as I felt it would allow me to grow and develop too. Once I submitted my CV to HEPPS, I underwent the interview process which consisted of two interviews. This was my first interview for a full-time job, so I was very nervous and didn’t know what to expect. However, I was made to feel very welcome by everyone throughout the process.
The interviews were a success and I was offered the role. Upon starting my first day, I was immediately welcomed by everyone which put my nerves at ease. Since then, I have received excellent training throughout my time at HEPPS, which has enabled me to quickly develop my knowledge and skills. I have thoroughly enjoyed working here so far and I have learnt many things since starting. Everyone is always willing to help whenever you need it. Going forward, I would like to study and complete my R0 exams – to further my career.
I have the backing and support I need from the team to help me get to where I want to be and to achieve my goals.
For anyone contemplating a career in paraplanning, this is the place to be. HEPPS invests their time and resource into developing me within my role, and they really do care about their staff and the practices we work with.
